TENS MACHINE HIRE NZ
We specialise in TENS machine hire for labour and birth. Our TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machines are specifically designed for this purpose and are therefore a very effective form of pain relief. They are non-invasive, safe for mother and baby, easy to use and allow you to remain active during labour. They are a very popular choice for women who want to avoid medications during their labour.
Many women like to hire a TENS machine alongside one of our birthing pools and they compliment each other in providing natural pain relief to birthing mothers.
About our TENS machine hire
Our TENS units work by delivering mild electrical impulses to the skin where the electrode pads are placed (on the back). The electrical impulses generated from the machine can help block contraction pain signals from the reaching the brain (this is known as the ‘Pain Gate Theory’), providing a non-invasive and drug free pain relief option. There are no negative side effects to using a TENS machine and they are frequently recommended by midwives.
Easy to use
Our TENS machines are very easy to use, they come with detailed instructions and you are in control of the intensity which means it can be adjusted to suit your needs. TENS machines are known to stimulate the release of natural endorphins, which are our body’s own pain killers.
Designed for mothers in labour
Our NeuroTrac TENS machines come with large electrode pads and a boost button, for a surge of pain relief during contractions, a feature that is specifically designed for mothers in labour, and not found on other TENS machines.
TENS MACHINE DURING LABOUR
We recommend that you start using your TENS machine as soon as you feel contractions as it should provide pain relief as soon as you start using it. You will need to take the TENS machine off before entering your birth pool, however it can be used right up until this point, which is likely to be in the later stages of labour.
