Birthing pool hire Dunedin & NZ
Our birth pool hire service enables expectant mothers to rent a birth pool for a 5 week period (from 37 weeks gestation to 42 weeks). Our birth pools are designed to be spacious and safe for both mother and pēpi and they offer a comfortable and natural alternative to a hospital birth.
Pain relief in child birth
One of the key benefits of using a birthing pool is the pain relief that the warm water provides. It can help ease muscle tension and reduce the intensity of contractions, as well as offering a sense of privacy to the birthing mother. Birthing pools are also thought to be beneficial to baby. The warm water can help to regulate their body temperature after birth and pēpis born into water can experience less stress as a result of the birthing process.
A range of sizes
Pēpi Pools’ offers a range of options including differing pool sizes and various hose fittings. When choosing which size birth pool is right for you, you may wish to consider your birthing space, water pressure, hot water cylinder, the number of people that are likely to be present at your birth and whether your partner is planning on being in the pool with you.

We provide everything you need
Our birthing pool hire services provide you with everything you need to set up, inflate and fill the pool. For hygiene reasons, you will need to provide your own length of hose for emptying the pool (this can be your garden hose), or you may wish to purchase one of our emptying kits.

Ready to get started?
We recommend you do a ‘dry run’ with the birth pool prior to labour. This should include deciding where your birth pool is going to go, practising inflating and deflating the pool and ensuring our standard 5m length of hose reaches your water supply (additional lengths of hose can be provided). Purchasing a water thermometer from us will help make sure the water in your birth pool stays at an optimum temperature. Having some birth affirmations on display in the space around your pool is also a great idea, this will help keep your mindset positive.
